Today's Transit Chart (Gochar)
The current transit of planets, gochar today, as a chart and a table: every planet's sign and degree in the sidereal zodiac, retrograde and combust marked, with the panchang of the day for your city.
What the transit chart today shows
- The gochar chart: each planet in its sign right now, in the North Indian style, with the ascendant of the moment for your place.
- The planetary positions table: sign, degree, nakshatra and pada for every planet, with retrograde and combust marked.
- Sign changes as they happen through the day; the Moon moves fastest.
- The panchang of the day: tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana and vara, with sunrise and sunset.
- Signed in with your birth chart: the same transit counted from your Moon and your ascendant, and Saturn's Sade Sati.
How to read gochar today
Find the sign of your Moon (your rashi) and count the houses from it: Jupiter in the 5th, 7th, 9th or 11th from the Moon supports; Saturn in the 12th, 1st or 2nd is Sade Sati. Create your birth chart and the page does the counting for you.
Why the positions differ from a Western chart
Vedic astrology measures the planets against the fixed stars, the sidereal zodiac, about 24 degrees behind the tropical zodiac. A planet in Aries on a Western site can be in Pisces here. This page uses the Lahiri ayanamsa, the standard in India and Nepal.
Frequently asked questions
What is gochar today?
Gochar (gochara) is the transit of the planets, their position in the sky right now. This page shows today's gochar chart and the sign and degree of every planet in the sidereal zodiac.
Where can I see the current transit of planets?
Right here, updated through the day: the transit chart, the planetary positions table with degrees and nakshatras, and the panchang for your city.
How do I read today's transit chart?
Take your Moon sign as the first house and count to each planet. Jupiter in the 5th, 7th, 9th or 11th from the Moon is supportive; Saturn in the 12th, 1st or 2nd is Sade Sati. With a saved birth chart the page counts the houses for you.
Is this the sidereal transit?
Yes. Positions are in the Vedic sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa, which is why they can differ by one sign from a Western transit chart.
How often does the transit today change?
The Moon changes sign every two to three days and the Sun once a month; Saturn takes about two and a half years. The page follows each change.
